Keeping the M shield will keep your max speed at around 16-17g of thrust depending on T4-5 skills. If cannons are not your thing you can do the same with the shield and opt to replace them with any other weapon of your choice. Dark Guardian is a carrier ship! You can use this ship to give your fleet the support it needs when fighting far away.
